Motor Week Announces 2014 Mazda3 “Best Compact Car”

Is that yet another win for a Mazda?  Motor Week has named the 2014 Mazda3 the “Best Compact Car” at a press conference at the Chicago Auto Show.  This version is not a revamp or a tweak.  This is a completely new design from front to back and it is getting noticed.

“As our best-selling vehicle, expectations remained high during every chapter of the Mazda3’s history,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). “From critics to consumers, Mazda vehicles must perform not to a traditional industry standard but to a benchmark the brand has established of itself, one of design, performance, quality and value. The 2014 Mazda3 not only meets such standards but exceeds them.”

These awards are not decided with bias from a salesman’s point of view. These are all judged from the buyer’s point of view using factors that consumer’s care about. If it matters to you, it is factored in.

One of the key factors has to be the SKYACTIV-G engine. You can get it in either a 2 or 2.5 liter gas engine. It produced 155 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 15p lb. ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. You can couple that with either a six speed manual or six speed automatic transmissions. It also offers one of the best fuel economies in its class surpassing the 40 mpg mark.
