The 2014 Mazda3: Award Winning Innovation

The new 2014 Mazda3 is flying up the charts to become the leader in its segment. The new Mazda3 is totally revamped and you will love the results.

The front wears Mazda’s trademark five-sided grille, but outlined in elegant chrome that flows into the light tube driving lamps. A fast roofline and high deck lid give the car a speedy stance, accentuated by 16-inch alloys, lower-body extensions and a body color lip spoiler. It projects sophistication beyond its class.

Now Mazda has introduced its own lightweight Skyactiv platform. This is a similar platform they use in the CX-5 and the new 6 but for the 3, it is unique. The changes include a 60 – 100lb curb weight difference depending on trim, a 2.4 inch longer wheelbase yet a .5 – 1.8 inch less overall length, 1.6 inches wider yet the height is down .6 inch. Although these changes do not sound significant, they are. The translation is room where you need it with no wasted space. The rear seat space is now very comfortable for a six-foot passenger.

The same is true of the interior. Slip into the deeply bolstered heated leather seats, adjust the perfectly sized leather-wrapped steering wheel and gaze into the big silver-lit analog speedometer. You’re ready to haul down the first curvy road you find, or stretch down the interstate while listening to the Bose audio system, comforted by the dual-zone automatic climate control and pairing your Bluetooth-enabled device for hands-free calling and audio streaming.

The fuel economy has been improved as well. It is projected to get 30 mpg city and 41 highway in the sedan and similar in the hatchback. The manual version will be the same highway and down 1 in the city. This is due to the 2.0 liter skyactiv engine which they have now added a larger exhaust manifold to handle the 4000 rpm torque peak.
